Henriette holes tee shot to take Gauteng North A to the top
Gauteng North’s Henriette Frylinck holed her tee shot at the par-three sixth hole today in the qualifying round of the Pick n Pay SA Women’s Inter-Provincial played at the scenic George Golf Club.
After she and Kim Williams carded a great three-under 69 in the foursomes this morning, her hole-in-one ensured that her team would be top of the table as the event proceeds to the match play event for the following three days.
Tomorrow, in the first round of the match play championship, Gauteng North A meets Boland A in the top selection of the A Division – Boland A having done far better than expected when stalwart Maggie Minnie carded a 73 to join SA Match Play Champion Iliska Verwey at the top of the individual leaderboard.
Frylinck finished third on 74, with KZN’s Tanica van As and WP B’s Amy Henning fourth on 75. The Gauteng A team finished in second place in the top division and is now seeded to meet Gauteng North A on the final day. Western Province is in third position with neighbours Boland A completing the group.
This morning, in cold and windy conditions, Williams and Frylinck played faultless golf to score their three-under par 69, three strokes ahead of Southern Cape’s Sandra Winter and Nicole Loesch on level-par 72. One stroke back on 73 was the other Southern Cape pair of Iliska Verwey and Monique Smit. Southern Cape is hoping to gain promotion back to the A Inter-Provincial and look well on tract to do so.
Western Province B’s Amy Henning (75) and Zayb Kippie (76) ensured that their team will meet Southern Cape on the final day.
