Harvey continues with rich vein of form at the Berkshire Trophy

Jared Harvey, the 2011 South African Stroke Play Champion, continued his rich vein of over the past few months when he finished in a tie for 5th at The Berkshire Trophy held in Ascot, west of London (UK), this past weekend.

Harvey, who was joined by Graham van der Merwe and Rae Mackie from South Africa in the tournament, played really solid golf with scores of 69, 73, 70 and 72 and a 4 under total of 288 and yet another high finish to add to his many in 2011 (Harvey also won the Western Province Amateur Stroke Play earlier in the year).

The tournament was won by Josh White of Chipstead (UK) on a score or 277. He was followed by another local boy in Matthew Wallace from Moor Park on 278. Jack Hiluta of Chelmsford and John Kemp from Woburn finished on a score 280 while Harvey finished in a tie with Matt Stieger of Australia, Peter Tarver-Jones of Worthing and Josh Loughrey from Wrag Barn.

This high finish promises to move Harvey even further up the World Amateur Golf Rankings where he is currently in 14th position.

Graham van der Merwe was the only other South African to make the cut but finished way back in the forty something position with scores of 72, 72, 77, 78. Rae Mackie missed the cut, which fell at 145, with scores of 74 and 76.
