Haickney to meet Higgo at SA Boys U-19 Match Play

He needed an extra hole to get the job done, but Reece Haickney dispatched Karabo Mokoena at the 19th hole to make the top 16 in the Nomads SA Boys U-19 Match Play Championship on Thursday.

The Randpark junior could be in for another tough tussle, though, as he faces Garrick Higgo from Boland at Bloemfontein Golf Club this afternoon.

Higgo staved off a slew of top foreign juniors to lift the Curro SA Juniors International title in early March and recently upstaged some of the country’s top ranked amateurs to win the ProShop Northern Amateur match play title at Randpark.

Stroke Play champion Deon Germishuys from Western Province continued his winning march to defeat Eric Nel 2-up, while runner-up Ross Sinclair from Gauteng North started his title defence with a convincing 3 & 1 victory over Free State’s Wilco Nienaber.
