30 December 2020 – GolfRSA is delighted to confirm that the three Nomads national events scheduled for January 2021 will go ahead in compliance with the National Government Regulations and GolfRSA Consolidated Risk Mitigation Guidelines.

The 2021 season will kick off on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, where the Nomads National Order of Merit (NOoM) Coastal and the Nomads SA Under-15 Championship – open to boys and girls – will be played back-to-back from 4-5 and 6-8 January at the magnificent Selborne Park Golf Estate.

The juniors then travel to Ekurhuleni for the Nomads NOoM Inland on 11 & 12 January at one of our popular stops, ERPM Golf Club.

“We look forward to hosting our first three events in January, but in order to ensure in a safe and healthy environment, we have had to incorporate some format changes to comply with the Adjusted Level 3 Regulations following the recent Presidential address,” said GolfRSA Manager: Operations Eden Thompson.

“To manage the impact of the new curfew, we have reduced both NOoM events to 36-hole tournaments, with 18 holes played on day one and 18 on day two. The starting times have been shifted back to 08h00 on the first day and the final day’s tee-time will be confirmed by the respective tournament directors.

“Players and caddies will be required to wear masks at all times when physical distancing from fellow competitors cannot be maintained.”

In addition to format adjustments at the Nomads SA Under-15 Championship, the Opening Dinner has been cancelled in order to assist the host facility to facilitate the Adjusted Level 3 Regulations.

“GolfRSA intend to ensure that all tournaments and championships hosted by us are played in compliance with National Government Regulations, the GolfRSA Consolidated Risk Mitigation Guidelines and our own GolfRSA Covid-19 Tournament Risk Mitigation Plan,” Thompson said.

“And, in accordance with the National Regulations, no spectators will be permitted at any of the tournaments.

“It is a privilege to be able to continue to host our national tournaments during these unfamiliar times, and GolfRSA extends its deepest appreciation to the Nomads Golf Club of South Africa for their unwavering support of junior golf.

“We are also grateful to Ryan Johnson at Selborne and Cedric Brummer at ERPM and their respective teams for being so understanding and accommodating of the changes required for us to continue to host our national events.”
