Girls upbeat after first round of the Jakarta Junior Champs

The SA girls are very upbeat and performed really well in the first round of the Jakarta World Junior Championships being played in Jakarta this week. Eleonora is pictured here with the caddies and opponents.

Karen Olivant reports.

“Eleonora Galletti carded a 75 in Class B and Bianca Theron, despite a nine on the ninth hole, shot a 76 in Class A and the girls should be in the running in the team event. Bianca is lying second and Ellie third in their respective sections. The girls play three rounds and the boys play four.

“In the boys championship, David Meyers carded 10 less than yesterday ending with a 74, and in 16th position in Class A. Karabo Mokoeka returned a 79, three shots worse than in round one, but assures me is still going to win his division by five shots! He is however nine strokes off the lead heading into round three, and in eighth position in Class B.

“The weather today was very windy and we have just had an amazing downpour! Thank goodness it waited until after play.”
