Gauteng North win the Challenge IPT

Gauteng North finished just 2.5 points ahead of neighbours and rivals Central Gauteng as the results of the 2007 Challenge IPT went to the wire.

Trailing Gauteng North by one game, Central Gauteng, who where playing Western Province on the last day needed to win and win big to over take the log leaders. The Central players did their part in beating archrivals 8-4 on the last day but this was not enough as Gauteng North played exceptional golf on the final day to record a 9.5 – 2.5 win over Southern Cape and claim the title by 2.5 points.

Lean Boezaart, playing at number one for Gauteng North was the player of the tournament finishing with 11 out of a maximum 12 points. He won all his singles at number one which is a fantastic achievment. He was pushed all the way to the line by team mate, Dolf van Wyk, who finished with 10.5 out of 12, winning 5 and halfing one of his singles.
