Gauteng, Border on the march at SA IPT

Gauteng A and B are in the driver’s seat at the 55th South African Women’s Inter-Provincial after both teams won their foursome matches at Centurion Country Club on Thursday.

Gauteng A defeated Gauteng North a 2 – 1 and Gauteng B mirrored the A-team’s victory to beat Gauteng North B by the same margin.

Woo-Ju Son and Tash Carlsson defeated Chantalle Hefer and Adele Beytell 6 & 4, and Mistry Kajal partnered Eleonora Galletti to take Gauteng A’s second point with a 5 & 4 result against Marike Reyneke and Ruzanne van der Walt,

Danielle du Toit and Carrie Park turned the tide for Gauteng North A when they knocked out Ivanna Samu and Kaleigh Telfer 3 & 2.

Gauteng B’s Lauren Bekker and Jacqui Akers claimed first blood with a 5 & 4 victory over Leigh van den Berg and Karin Watts.

Chiara Contomathios and Symone Henriques downed Marinda Pretorius and Larissa du Preez 4 & 2, but Gauteng North’s Mercedes Kreissel and Janelize Bessenger hit back to win the final game against Shawnelle de Lange and Kaiyuree Moodley 1-up.

Defending champions Western Province A led Boland 2 – 1 in the first Division 2 match, while Ekurhuleni edged 2 – 1 ahead of KwaZulu-Natal.

B-SECTION

Eastern Province and Free State are at a stalemate after the Division 1 foursomes, but Border edged into the lead against North West.

Justine Botten and Minette Olivier from Eastern Province downed Zanele Mazibuko and Chante van Zyl 7 & 6, but Matsleleng Mokoena and Bianca Wernich combined to beat Jamie-Lee Daniels and Shene du Toit 6 & 5 to square the match.

Border’s Siviwe and Yolanda Duma won 3 & 1 and Demi Flanagan and Zethu Myeki halved against Michelle Swanepoel and Jhanelle Strydom to put the defending champions in an attacking position ahead of the singles.

Southern Cape scores a clean sweep against Western Province B in the Division 2 foursomes, while Mpumalanga and Limpopo drew 1-all.
