Ex Nelspruit Golf Club teaching Pro wins Mpumalanga Open & Closed Champs
Monja turned professional in 2005 but returned to play Amateur golf in 2011. She has competed in several Provincial Tournaments this year and was delighted to take the honours at her own Championships. She set Alana a tough challenge after shooting a two under par 69 in the first round, but Alana was unable to catch her in the second round despite a valiant effort.
Alana, who represented South Africa in 2012 at the All Africa Challenge Trophy and the Zimbabwe Ladies Open, as well as at the prestigious World Amateur Teams Championship that was held in Turkey in October, was playing in her final Provincial Tournament before turning professional in December 2012.
In the “B” Division local girl Patrys Cicone beat Meghan Brisley (also local) by four shots on a very warm Mpumalanga day and Chanelle Botha from Bankenveld Golf Estate won the Junior Trophy playing off a 14 handicap.
