SOMERSET WEST, 22 April 2021 – Ekurhuleni will hope to ride their slight advantage to success in Friday’s final round, while the Super Senior battle for glory will do down to the wire in the 2021 SA Senior B-Division Inter-Provincial at Erinvale Golf Club.

SENIORS
Ekurhuleni regained the number one spot in the standings with a 5 – 3 win against Free State 5 – 3 in Thursday’s third round.

However, North West routed Northern Cape 5.5 – 2.5 and banked some valuable games points, so no doubt the two sides will be going all out in their three-way final round clash with Mpumalanga.

Rodney Smith (77), Kevin Monk (78), Hendrik Boshoff (78), Leonard Pienaar (79) and Gary Herbert (82) racked up the wins for Ekurhuleni to take the team’s tally to 4 points and 10 games points.

Meanwhile Douglas McCabe set North West on a winning course with a brilliant 69.

Johan Krugel (79), Johan Coetzer (78), Dawie Blaauw (77) and Roy van Blerk (75) followed suit and Christo Reyneke halved with Peppy Blake to seal a profitable result.

North West might be second in the log, but with 3 points and 9.5 games points in hand, it’s all to play for on Friday.

Northern Cape and Free State will do battle in the other final.

SUPER SENIORS
Boland banked 2 big points and kept their number spot with a 3 – 1 result against Ekurhuleni 3, but Eastern Province simply matched their effort, defeating Free State by the same margin to keep their share of pole position.

George Bezuidenhout, Peter van Coller and Tony Bailey delivered the winning points for Boland, while Frans Kana, George Koen and Zolile Nqana put Eastern Province’s points on the board.

The two teams will go into the final round battle with 6 points and 10 games points each, but don’t discount their third opponent in the three-way class.

Johan Becker, Joe Wood and Christie le Roux came up trumps on the day to secure a 3 – 1 win for North West against Northern Cape, boosting the side to third place.

With 5 points and 8 games points, North West is definitely still in the running.

Meanwhile Free State will have to bring their A-game to the party as Northern Cape and Ekurhuleni are bound to fight until the last putt drops for their first victory of the week.
