Ekurhuleni Junior Open championship
It was good to see a field of 38 taking to the Benoni Country Club course which was in very good condition due to recent rain. A beautiful spring day greeted the players. A and B divisions played 36 holes of stroke play. The A division, being the biggest was very competitive and saw the trophy being shared by Michaela Fletcher from KZN and Bianca Theron from Boland with scores of 141. It was a nail biting day as the girls scores see-sawed from morning to afternoon. It was also very encouraging to see two completely new girls playing 36 holes – Mbalenthle Mahlangu and Keabeswe Kganditcoe from Royal Oak who took on the challenge for their very first competition! Jhanelle Strydom from Rustenberg won the B division, Naledi Qubu from Pollak Park won the C division. As this was the inaugural Junior Championship for Ekurhuleni, they can feel extremely proud.
