Disappointment for SA after Ferreira disqualified
After playing themselves into a strong position, the South African amateur golf team sank to the bottom of the leaderboard after the final round of the 54 hole Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup, being played at the Los Lagartos County Club, outside Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The rain interrupted stroke play tournament included an individual and team competitions. With the best two scores counting, in the International Team Competition, South Africa were disqualified when Derik Ferreira, 19 year old player from Centurion Country Club, signed for an incorrect score, on conclusion of his round.

This is the second time in three years that a player representing South Africa, in this competition, has been disqualified for signing for an incorrect score. Alphius Kelapile, who plays his golf at Leopard Park Golf Club in Mafikeng, was disqualified for the same reason in 2006.

Revelling in the windy conditions, de Vries recorded a final round of 69, two under par, and his team mate, who won the British Amateur earlier this year, going one shot better.
