Courtenay James is top kid at Eagle Canyon

12-year old Courtenay James, a grade 7 pupil at La Lucia’s Crawford College and a member of Mount Edgecombe Country Club, came first in the U.S. Kids World Qualifier at Eagle Canyon Golf Club in JHB on the weekend. This is the third year in a row that she has won her age division.

Her final score of 80 was seven shots clear of her nearest rival and 20 shots clear of third place. She now has qualified to play in the following championships in America and Europe:

1.U.S. Kids Golf World Championship in Pinehurst
2.Callaway Golf Championships at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
3.The Optimist Championship in Florida.
4.U.S. Kids European Golf Championship in Scotland.

In May 2009, Courtenay participated at the Old Course St Andrews in Scotland, for her first appearance in the 2009 U.S. Kids European Championship in Gullane Scotland.

After three days competing at the links course in Gullane from the 26-29 May, in freezing, rainy and windy conditions Courtenay shot rounds of 81, 79 & 87 and ended a very commendable 5th in the Girls 11 age group.

Women’s Golf wishes her good golf and good luck as she moves forward in this competition.
