Connie Leads SA Girls by one stroke from Bonita

Top SA Junior shot a five under par 67 today to lead the Nomads SA Girls Championships by one stroke on 138 from Namibian Bonita Bredenhann who signed for a two under 70 today (139). The event is being played over 54 holes at Orkney Golf Club this weekend.

Overnight leader Bonita carded a three under 69 yesterday, but her playing partner Connie’s putting stood her in good stead today for her great round. Playing with them in the final round tomorrow will be Kempton Park’s Talia Nel who was consistent on 74, 74 (148).

The second round of the 10 to 18 handicap division is being played this afternoon as is the D Division (28 to 33 handicaps). Leading overnight in the 10 to 18 Division was another Namibian, Maryke Short, winner of the match play at the recent Sanlam SA Amateur Championship.

The stableford Bronze Division, handicaps 19 to 27 played over two rounds was won by Border’s Luche Klassen on 84 points (39 and 45), with Mpumalanga’s Chrizelle Strydom finishing in second place on 79 (39, 40 points).

The final round of the championship is being played tomorrow morning (Tuesday), and the 152 players will return home in the afternoon and evening, ready to start school again on Wednesday.
