Connie cards 67 in final round

South Africa’s Connie Chen carded a 67, the low round of the girl’s championship, on the final day of the Jakarta World Junior Championships to finish as runner-up on 217 (73, 77, 67) , one stroke behind the winner Chirupat Jao-Javanil of Thailand (216 – 68, 74, 74).

Starting the day, Connie was eight off the pace, but started with a birdie and after a further birdie at the third and no drops, she turned two under on 34. She birdied the 11th, 14th and 17th for a 33 on the back nine and signed for 67 to just miss a play-off for the tournament.

Lara Weinstein finished in 12th position in the A Class on 238 (81, 78, 78).

In Class B,playing the shorter course, Kelly Erasmus was 5th on 225 (74, 74, 76) while Kirsten Campbell finished 9th on 245 (85, 83, 78)

Team scores were not available at the time of writing and the team arrived back in South Africa tomorrow, Saturday.
