Chen and Frylinck take the Daisies to a 17 stroke lead while Zim has a Hole-In-One
Gauteng North Daisies look unbeatable as Connie Chen and Henriëtte Frylinck returned three-under 69s to put their team ahead by 17 shots going into the final round of the WGSA 72 Hole Teams Championship being played at Graceland this week. And in the B Division, hosts Mpumalanga continued their form with a lead of 16 strokes over Boland B.
In stunning highveld autumn windless conditions, a number of players signed for par or below in Round 3 this afternoon. Tiffany Avern-Taplin (KZN) returned a two-under 70, as did home team’s junior, Izel Pieters. Top-ranked Kim Williams and Biance Barnard, both playing out of Centurion, finished on level par 72.
Second round leaders, Lumien Orton (Free State and NC) and Alana van Greuning (Mpumalanga) fell back this afternoon with scores of 74 and 78 respectively. Lumien is currently tied in second place with Kim Williams and Tiffany Avern-Taplin, three strokes behind Connie Chen who is on one over par 217.
HOLE IN ONE
Border’s Millie Zim achieved her second National Tournament hole-in-one when she aced her tee shot at the par three 9th hole.
The final round will be played tomorrow and WGSA will also announce the teams for the World Amateur Teams Championship and the All Africa Challenge Trophy.
