Central Gauteng charts course for glory

Central Gauteng lead Western Province and Southern Cape edged clear of Eastern Province while Ekurhuleni and Boland are all square after the final round Foursomes in the 55th South African Inter-Provincial, sponsored by Tempest, at Glendower Golf Club on Friday.

CENTRAL GAUTENG 2.5 – WESTERN PROVINCE 1.5
Matthew Spacey and Andi Dill flattened Drew Denyer and Werner Theart 7 & 6 to claim first blood for Central Gauteng and Ryan Dreyer and Darin de Smidt put the defending champions further in the lead when they beat Altin van der Merwe and Gerlou Roux 2 & 1.

Carlo O’Reilly and Michael Sherriff pulled it back for Province with a 3 & 1 result against Marco Steyn and David Meyers, but Jason Viljoen and Basil Wright denied them the chance to square the Foursomes when they halved against Luca Filippi and Sean Bradley.

EKURHULENI 2 – BOLAND 2
Angus Ellis-Cole & Kyle McClatchie whipped Pierre de Villiers and Karl Ochse 6 & 5 to put the first points on the board for Ekurhuleni, but Philip Spies and Henri van Waart levelled the scores when the pair defeated Rowan du Preez and Ernest Botha 4 & 3.

Herman Loubser and Armandt Scholtz won 4 & 3 to put Boland in front again, but Teagan Moore partnered Paul Boshoff hit back 2 & 1 for Ekurhuleni to square the match ahead of the Singles.

SOUTHERN CAPE 3 – EASTERN CAPE 1
Southern Cape will carry a commanding two shot lead into the Singles after claiming three matches against Eastern Cape in the opening Foursomes.

Andre Nel and Jade Buitendag won 6 & 5, Jovan Rebula partnered Cameron Moralee to a 2 & 1 win and Ian Williams and Franklin Manchest won 1-up.

Veteran Mzuyanda Zingela and rookie Dillon Germshuys combined to defeat Nicholas Mitchell and Heinrich Frylinck for Eastern Province’s lone point.
