Pretoria University student Mareli Joubert won the 54 Hole Free State and Northern Cape Championship Esther Cutler Trophy played at Bloemfontein Golf Club on the weekend of 2 and 3 May. With rounds of 72, 70 and 74 on 216 she was three strokes ahead of Kim Williams on 219 and Connie Chen and Nicole Carlse tied in third place on 220.

WGSA President Erica Lefson, SAGA President Enver Hassen and SAGA COE Bruce Younge attended the 8th International Golf Conference at Fairmont St Andrews from the 29th April to 1st May 2009, hosted by the R & A. The event is held every four years.
