Brandon Stone Wins Boland Open
Brandon Stone did everything he had to today, to win the Boland Open Championship by a shot.
Leading by three at the start of the day, Brandon had an answer to every drop he made or every birdie made by his closest challengers as the final six players in the filed fought for the title.
In extremely difficult conditions, Brandon was the only player in the field not to go above par for any round scoring rounds of 68; 71; 72; 72 for a 283 (-5) total.
Dean O’Riley will think back to a few shots which got away as he came up one shot short of forcing a play-off for the title. Boland and Stellenbosch favourite, JJ Senekal played solid golf all week but his level par 288 total was just not good enough leaving JJ in 3rd place alone, one shot ahead of fast finisher, Ryan Strauss. Starting the day +5 for the tournament, no one would have though Ryan to be a contender but the big hitting WP player obviously felt very comfortable in the conditions as he went on to return the best last day total of 140 (-4) for a 4th place finish.
The Boland Golf Association are thankful to their partner, the SWINGFIT GOLF PERFORMANCE ACADEMY who who made a contribution as sponsors towards the tournament.
