Bonita is victorious in Mpumalanga
With two under par rounds of 69 and 70 (139), Namibia’s Bonita Bredenhann topped the leader board at the Mpumalanga Championships played on Saturday and Sunday at Walker Park. She finished four strokes ahead of joint runners-up SA Stroke Play Champion Kim Williams and Hentriette Frylinck on 143.
New Mpumalanga President Sarie Fourie reported that the 74 competitors played in perfect weather over the two days and the course was in very good shape, thanks to Blitsie the Green keeper. The Championship division was lengthened to 5742 m on this par 72 Course.
“The Championship Division had 25 entries of which 10 were Juniors. The 10 to 18 Silver Division included 20 Seniors and two Juniors, the Bronze had 13 senior players and in the Copper section we had 10 seniors and 6 Juniors.
“Bonita Bredenhann from Blyvooruitzicht Golf Club took top honours with a gross score of 139.
“The Junior players showcased some of their best Golf and Lara Weinstein from Glendower Golf Club walked off with the Junior Championship trophy. In the Senior Section Elsa Loubser from Witbank golf Club took top honours.”
