1. Former GolfRSA Senior Francois le Roux fired a solid 70 to lead the Boland team to two victories on day 2 of the 2021 SA Senior A-Division Inter-Provincial at Stellenbosch Golf Club.

20 April 2019 – Boland scored two convincing victories in the A-Division, and Western Province’s Super Seniors roared to a clean sweep, but it’s Central Gauteng who took control of the 2021 SA Senior A-Division Inter-Provincial after two rounds at Stellenbosch Golf Club.

SENIORS
KwaZulu-Natal held Central Gauteng to a 4-all draw, but Lions kept their bid for a fifth successive title on track with a strong 6 -2 showing against Border.

Schalk Naude once again led the way at number seven with a 71 that earned him wins against Basil Naidoo from KZN and Border’s Norman Phillips, while Sean Quigly beat his two opponents with a solid 72. Neil Homann matched Quigly’s round to take down Sean Fenger from KZN and Duncan Neil from Border, who both registered rounds of 77.

Jock Wellington shot 76 to seal the tie against KwaZulu-Natal, while Johan Nel’s 78 and 77s from Stephen Johnston and Craig Kamps pulled the victory through for Central Gauteng against Border.

The Lions moved into the number one spot in the log on with 7 points.

Western Province lag just 1 point behind after routing Southern Cape 4.5 – 3.5, while KwaZulu-Natal managed to pull a 4.5 – 3.5 win through against Border to climb to third standings with 5 points.

The biggest winners on the day were the hosts, who banked the full 4 points on offer after defeating Gauteng North 7.5 – 0.5 and Eastern Province 7 – 1.

Paul Baaitjies, Franz Lobhauer and Marius Lourens all won their respective three-way games with rounds of 74, while Andre Louw’s 75 also earned him two wins. Adrian Kuiper posted 71 to defeat Pieter Cooper from Gauteng North and Eastern Province’s Mike Outram.

Boland’s pacesetter on the day was former GolfRSA Senior Protea Francois le Roux, who fired a sweet 70 to defeat the Daisies’ Michael Cullen and Rowlin Adonis from EP.

Former Senior Players Championship winner and national player, Andre van Dyk scored the half point against Gauteng North, and beat Eastern Province number one Ryno Ferreira by two shots with a round of 74.

The dominant performance shot Boland to fourth in the log with 4 points.

Southern Cape sits in fifth place with 2 points and a 3.5 games point edge over the Daisies, who downed Eastern Province 5 – 3 to salvage their day. Border hugs the bottom on the standings with 1 point.

2. Super Senior Colin Weinstein helped to boost Central Gauteng to the top of the log on day two of the 2021 SA Senior A-Division Inter-Provincial at Stellenbosch Golf.

SUPER SENIORS
While most of the attention on day two was focussed on Southern Cape and Gauteng North, who handed out a few hefty blows, Central Gauteng quietly moved themselves into pole position.

Super Senior Lions Colin Weinstein, Colin Hayward and Lawrence Franklin racked up 3 points against Border, but IPT veteran Denis Jones prevented a white wash with a round of 79 to beat Ian Smith by one shot.

The win earned Central Gauteng 2 vital points and propelled the side to the top spot in the log.
Southern Cape, meanwhile, crushed KwaZulu-Natal 3 – 1 and Gauteng North got the better of Western Province, winning their tussle 2.5 – 1.5.

Bertus Smit, playing at number one, posted 75. Peter Hodson 76 and Andrew Proctor 79 for the Garden Route side, but Noel Parsonage edged Ivan Palframan with an 81 to claim the game for KZN.

Dirk Swanevelder (76) and Leon Scheepers (75) scored victories for Gauteng North, while Adrian Kriel halved his game against Richard Brooker.

Western Province’s loss dropped the side to second on 2 points and KZN slipped to a tie for third with Gauteng North.
