Boland bounce back at SA Country Districts

Mpumalanga carried the confidence of a first round victory over Boland to more success in the second round of the SA Country Districts, while the defending champions bounced back at ERPM Golf Club on Tuesday.

Mpumalanga defeated North West 8.5 – 3.5 in the second round, while Boland whipped Border 10 – 2 to get their defence back on track.

North West held Mpumalanga to a 2-all draw in the Foursomes, but suffered a near clean sweep in the Singles with Kevin Smith, Andre van Heerden, Gary Daniel, Chris Zietsman, Quintin Wilsnach and Jaun van Greunen storming to victory for Mpumalanga.

Boland scored a whitewash in the Foursomes, and came within two games of complete domination in the Singles.

Lauritz Loubser, Martin Mitchell, JF Conradie, Johan Germishuys, Daniel Mantel and Henri van Waart notched the winning points for Boland.

The defending champions will enjoy a third round bye, while Border faces off against North West and Mpumalanga challenge for a hat-trick of wins against Ekurhuleni.

KwaZulu-Natal and Free State both scored successive victories to strengthen their bid for promotion, but Northern Cape forced their match against Southern Cape into a 6-all deadlock.
