Boland and Gauteng North move to the Top

Boland took another step towards defending the title they lifted at San Lameer in 2005, when they convincingly dispatched Central Gauteng by a 9 – 3 margin on day three of the Challenge Cup.

In a day that started under miserable conditions, Boland took control early and did not relinquish their early advantage. In the other match up of the A section, Limpopo fell short by a margin of 8.5 – 3.5 against more fancied opponents Western Province.

In the B section, home favourites Southern Cape enjoyed a day off yet remained in a very close second place behind Gauteng North. With both teams having enjoyed their rest day and thus having played two matches, Gauteng North enjoy a 1 game advantage as the teams ready themselves for their clash on Thursday. The matches in the B section on the third day see Gauteng North victorius by a 9.5 – 2.5 margin over struggling Ekurhuleni and KwaZulu-Natal edged out the Presidents Team 7 – 5.

The tournament, which is being hosted at the Mossel Bay Golf club could not have asked for a better venue. The course which allows for risk/reward shots on the majority of the holes, is in excellent condition and is being thoroughly enjoyed by all the players.
