Blaauw on a winning streak
Jacques Blaauw’s vein of rich form continued this past weekend in Bloemfontein where he won the Free State & Northern Cape Open just 2 weeks after lifting the prestigious SA Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Pearl Valley Golf Estates.
Jacques Blaauw went into the last round of the rain shortened tournament with a two shot lead over Dylan Fritelli. Blaauw played steady golf before bogeying the last three holes and still holding onto the two shot lead he started the day with. Fritelli, in contrast, had a bad day by his standards and fell back into 5th position after a closing round 77 for a total of 213 (-3).
Michael Palmer, on the other hand, had his best finish so far in his short amateur golf career, finishing in second place on a score of 209 (7under).
The ever consistent Dean O’Riley shot a closing round of 68 for a total of 6 under par (210) for the three rounds, placing him in 3rd place overall.
