Bertine and Connie meet Annika Sorrenstam in the USA

The second Annika Invitational gets under way today, Saturday 13 February and at the opening ceremony last night, South Africa’s top ranked juniors, Connie Chen and Bertine Strauss met Annika once again.

Erica Lerfson reports from the Reunion Golf Resort, Orlando, “At last we are getting down to golf business. Connie and Bertine have had time to settle and although it has not been great weather they are raring to go. They had a great practice round on Thursday and obviously were not as in awe as they were last year and are more comfortable as they do know the course.

“Yesterday was the second practice round with the rain coming down after nine holes. They were able to play 15 holes before being called of the course for the supposed AM AM which was called off after six holes when the heavens really opened. Fortunately no rain is expected today or Sunday.

“The opening banquet and dinner took place and it was good to see Annika looking so well and relaxed. They showed a video of her achievements and she is really a well balanced person – now wife and mom. She will be here for the tournament and ready to give advice to the girls.”
