Attie takes Ekurhuleni Open
Attie Schwartzel, younger brother of European Tour player Charl Schwartzel won the Ekurhuleni Open by 4 shots from Eisenhower team member Charl Coetzee on the weekend.
After opening rounds of 68 and 65, Attie on 11 under par took a 3 shot lead into the final two rounds. Despite 4 sub ppar rounds, Charl(275) could make no inroads on the leader as Attie closed out the titel with rounds of 67 and 71 for a 4 round total of 271 (-17).
Ruan Botha carried his great form through the year and ended 3rd on 276 followed by Central Gauteng team mates Neil Scheitekat and David Hewan on 277 and 278 respectively. Atties 65 in round two was the lowest of the tournament with only Neil Schietekat managing to equal that in the final round with a strong finish.
