Filippi in touch at Junior Open Championship
South Africa’s Luca Filippi finished just within striking distance of first round pacesetter, Hugo Townsend from Sweden, in the opening round of Junior Open Championship at the West Lancashire Golf Club in England.
Filippi from the Western Province carded a two-over-par 74 for a share of fourth in the prestigious biennial championship, presented by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A).
Telfer debuts at Junior Open Championship
South Africa’s Kaleigh Telfer struggled in her Junior Open Championship debut at the West Lancashire Golf Club in England, while compatriot Luca Filippi finished within striking distance of first round pacesetter, Hugo Townsend from Sweden, on Tuesday.
Telfer from Gauteng tied for 35th on nine over 81, while Filippi from the Western Province carded a two-over-par 74 for a share of fourth in the prestigious biennial championship, presented by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A).
Tuks undefeated at USSA Champs
The University of Pretoria successfully defended their title at the USSA (University Sport South Africa) Championship when they beat North West University in spectacular fashion at Koro Creek Golf Estate in Limpopo on Friday.

TuksSport High School’s Dylan Naidoo remains the man to beat after the Nomads SA Boys Under-17 Stroke Play Championship reached the 54-hole mark at Polokwane Golf Club on Wednesday.
Naidoo overturned two bogeys to come home in 71 strokes for a third successive round and the 16-year-old Central Gauteng tops the leaderboard at three-under-par 213.
