Williams looking for repeat at Sanlam Women’s SA Amateur

The country’s top two contenders will go head-to-head at the seventh Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Golf Championship at Rustenburg Golf Club this week.

Smooth-swinging Kim Williams, ranked number one, and South Africa’s number two, Iliska Verwey, have both underlined their good form in the run-up to the country’s premier women’s amateur tournament.

Strauss plots her comeback at Sanlam SA Amateur

RUSTENBURG, North West (7 April 2010) - South Africa’s former number one amateur golfer Bertine Strauss is making her comeback at the Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Golf Championship after taking time off to concentrate on her studies.

Strauss will tee it up alongside her peers at the Rustenburg Golf Club to challenge in the Stroke Play from 10-12 April and the Match Play from 13-15 April.

Kim Daniels wins the SA Girls’ Rose Bowl

Uitenhage’s 15-year old Kim Daniels won the SA Girls’ Rose Bowl at Clovelly Country Club this week when she carded 228 (80, 76, 72) to finish one stroke ahead of overnight leader Zayb Kippie from Royal Cape – 229 (80, 69, 76). Izel Pieters finished third on 230 (75, 80, 75).

Nortje wins first Open Amateur Title in his back yard

From the 1st to the 3rd of April, the Southern Cape played host to yet another very successful Sanlam Cape Province Open.

A total of 134 amateurs from all across South Africa, of which most are top ranked by the South African Golf Association, entered this very prestigious tournament. The tournament was played over 3 days which started off with two pre-cut rounds played during the 1st and the 2nd of April, and was completed by playing two rounds on the 3rd of April.
